Not the one

Hopeless romantics like myself, hold on to the notion that out of the seven point something billion humans out there, there is one specifically tailored for them-nauseating I know. Let us talk about that for a minute. Have you ever met someone and right there and then you knew there was something there? Regardless of whether your answer is yes or no, what is undeniable is that some higher power greater than us is more often than not involved. Perhaps you never experienced bumping into someone, dropping all their books and well you know the rest- it’s a load of Hollywood crap if you ask me. That said, sometimes the circumstances leading to you meeting your significant other are way too intricate to be mere coincidences-sometimes freakishly so.

Someone told me the concept of the one doesn’t exist because some people remarry after their spouses die and are even happier than their first marriages. There is no arguing with that, I know when I am beat but hear me out. I think the first spouse was the mitten you had to settle for, for lack of a better word, before finally meeting your glove.

I am not on the deciding committee on whether or not this notion is a sham but all things considered, when you know you know.

P.S In case you were wondering, this piece indeed is the one.
